“What
Big Oil doesn’t want you to know….”
Greenpeace via uark.onmicrosoft.com (Mar 23, 2024,)
We’ve told you about the impact of oil and gas drilling on
our planet’s health. We’ve told you about the communities and creatures
worldwide who bear the brunt of the global reliance on fossil fuels. And we’ve
told you that now, Greenpeace is facing a $300 million lawsuit
brought against us by a Big Oil company attempting to silence us.
Fossil
fuel corporations are willing to put profits ahead of people and our planet —
their only concern is their bottom line.
We won’t
stay silent. We’re sounding the alarm — and we want every single Greenpeacer to
know all the fossil fuel facts that Big Oil is trying to keep quiet, so you can
sound the alarm, too.
James,
we’ll never see the end of the climate crisis if we don’t hold governments and
corporations accountable for the harm they’re doing to our Earth and all its
inhabitants. It’s crucial to show Big Oil they can’t hide their dirty practices
from us. We must expose their greenwashed myths around recycling and
spread the truth about the severity of this crisis — before we reach the point
of no return.
Thanks
for fighting alongside us,
Greenpeace

Weekend Reading (3-23-24)
Boycott Chevron!: The Chevron corporation runs gas fields and
pipelines off the coast of Palestine and Israel that, among other things,
supply power to the Israeli military and illegal settlements in the occupied
West Bank. That makes Chevron a major partner in the Israeli occupation,
apartheid, and illegal exploitation of Palestinian land and resources. AFSC is
part of a growing international coalition calling on Chevron to stop supporting
genocide and apartheid. Join
us by sending a message to the CEO of Chevron today!

Dear
Dick, 2-7-24
As extreme climate impacts harm communities across the globe, it's time for
bold action to hold the industries most responsible for the crisis
accountable.
Join our partners in the
Insure Our Future network for a week of action February
26-March 3 to call on insurance companies to stop enabling fossil fuels,
respect human rights, and support a just transition. Advocates
are planning a range of creative actions to deliver this message to the offices
of insurance companies around the world.
The insurance industry is a powerful—but often
overlooked—player in the climate crisis. Fossil fuel projects need insurance to
operate, so pressuring insurance companies to stop insuring new and expanded
coal, oil, and gas projects is a key lever to rein in the primary drivers of
the crisis. There have been wins getting these companies to restrict insurance
for coal and tar sands; now we need to do the same for oil and gas.
Together we can stem the flow of resources into destructive
fossil fuels and build a just clean energy future for our communities and
future generations.
Sincerely, Hannah Poor

P.S. If you can't participate in an
in-person action, there are still ways to support this campaign! In a couple
weeks we will circulate an online action you can take from anywhere, so please
keep an eye out for that.
