“As Trump Weighs Attack Plans, Iran Says US Intervention Would Be 'Recipe for All-Out War'.”  Common Dreams (6-18-25).

The Iranian Foreign Ministry said Wednesday that any U .S. intervention in the escalating conflict that Israel started last week would be "a recipe for an all-out war in the region," a warning that came as President Donald Trump weighed plans for a direct strike on Iran without congressional authorization.

Meanwhile, in the U.S. Congress, support for resolutions aimed at preventing Trump from launching an attack on Iran without lawmakers' approval continued to grow.   “No president should be able to bypass Congress' constitutional authority over matters of war," Rep. Ro Khanna (D-Calif.), who is co-leading a House war powers resolution alongside Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.), said in a statement Tuesday.   "The American people do not want to be dragged into another disastrous conflict in the Middle East," Khanna added.READ THEFULLSTORY

From ICAN, The International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons, awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2017 for the UN nuclear weapons ban treaty, denounces illegal attack.
Dear Dick, The conflict following Israel’s attack on Iran on 13 June continues to escalate. The strike has triggered a series of military and political reactions from Iran, such as the announcement by the Iranian foreign ministry that it would reduce its cooperation with International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) inspectors and that its Parliament is working on legislation to withdraw Iran from the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty. . . .  ICAN highlighted how Israel’s illegal attack undermines nuclear non-proliferation and risks the conflagration of the region. And we continue to engage with governments calling on countries and leaders to condemn Israel’s illegal attack and work immediately for the end of hostilities.

. . .International treaties such as the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty and the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons are essential tools to bring peace and security to the region and globally. ICAN will continue to call on all countries to join or continue their adherence to these treaties and uphold international humanitarian law. Will you support our work?

Norman Solomon, Roots Action.  “Don’t call the Pentagon’s $1 trillion a “defense” budget.” [Let’s do the same: put the word in quot. marks or mark it through as I have done.  Or return to its original name: War Department!  -D]
If the USA had a genuine “defense” budget, it would be a small fraction of the $1.01 trillion that President Trump is determined to push through Congress for the next fiscal year.

If you’re paying taxes, you’re helping to fund the ever-increasing military budget – what Martin Luther King Jr. aptly described as “some demonic, destructive suction tube.”   The RootsAction Education Fund works to expose that spending for what it actually is – a military boondoggle and gigantic rip-off of taxpayers, with great financial results for corporate war contractors and horrific results for people.   Please consider reducing your involuntary contribution to the “demonic, destructive” process by making a tax-deductible contribution to the RootsAction Education Fund.   Here are two ways you could divert money from the so-called Defense Department while helping to educate and agitate for an end to what Dr. King called “the madness of militarism.”
