Obama's Climate Promises

[CCTF] Tell Obama the world needs his climate leadership
|joanna pollock to cctf, OMNI, me, nathan, Gladys, Mikel, david, Michelle, nick
This is a critical petition. Congress has driven the climate change action car deep into the ditch...and there doesn't appear to be any sign of a tow truck coming any time soon. I wish our President Obama would see the hurricanes, droughts and floods in our rear view mirror. We desperately need him to lead on this issue!
In the meantime, the world meets again to try to figure out what to do about this global crisis in lieu of the United States making no solid commitments or plans for carbon reduction. Please sign this petition!
Joanna.

Joanna,

Tell the President to keep his climate promises: Sign the petition today

The world's poorest nations are on the front lines of catastrophic climate change. The recent floods in Pakistan and droughts in Africa are just the most recent examples of how the world's poor are suffering because of our leaders' indifference to the climate crisis.

Now that we face a Congress full of climate deniers and shills for big polluters, President Obama must become a true global climate leader to help the world's poorest nations cope with climate chaos. Tell the President to keep his promises at this year's climate conference in Cancún, Mexico.

Nearly a year ago, we reported to you from the UN climate talks in Copenhagen that the U.S. and other developed countries agreed to raise $100 billion per year by 2020 to help developing countries adapt to the impacts of climate change, protect their forests, and transition to clean energy economies.

President Obama now has a responsibility to keep America's climate promises to the world's poorest nations. Tell the President to keep his promises at this year's climate conference in Cancún, Mexico.

1Sky has joined with Greenpeace, Friends of the Earth, ActionAid and the Jubilee USA Network to gather 50,000 signatures for this petition because we believe it's fundamentally unfair that the world's poor should suffer from our leaders' unwillingness to grapple with climate change change in a serious way. We'll deliver this petition and our message to the White House on December 1st and to key U.S. officials at the climate conference in Cancún, Mexico in December.

Thanks for taking action,
