Tomorrow is a big PEACE DAY. Operation Awareness soldiers and their team are taking off on the "Bike to the End" ride that will take them from Fayetteville to un-aware corners of the South. They'll keep on ridin' until the US leaves Iraq and Afghanistan. It could be a long ride, but if awareness keeps rising it will be shorter. Jacob had a great interview on Ozarks at Large this evening. Did you hear him?
Bring your bicycles to the Fayetteville Town Square tomorrow at 10:00 am to travel the first leg of the journey with the team. Or meet them at Veterans Memorial Park at 11:00 for the send-off party where you'll get to hear some of their music, and the story of what brought this about. You'll also get to talk to the team in person. They're amazing young people, and you'll enjoy hearing what they've got to say.
This is the first time OMNI folks have had the opportunity to express our real feelings about the Afghanistan war. Thanks to 3-time Afghanistan veteran Jacob George for speaking out on what needs to be said many times... the American military has no business being used and abused as an empire-building machine. That's not what these sterling young people signed up to do. Please join us for the send-off.
Directions to Veterans Memorial Park:
Take College Ave to Zion Road across from the Mall. Turn East on Zion at Lowe's. The park is close by. It's on the left and has a chain-link fence around it. There's a small sign at the gate and it's not hard to find.
