Since its formation on October 24, 1945, the United Nations has continually delivered on its mandate to ensure a safer and healthier world for present and future generations. UNA-USA Chapters across the country celebrated UN Day with 130 events in 34 different states. The events show the depth and diversity of American support of the UN.

The film The War Against War takes an in-depth look at the work of United Nations Peacekeeping around the world. It highlights the historic creation of UN Peacekeeping and the challenges of fighting “the war against war”. The film provides the audience with insight into the formidable challenges facing peacekeepers and the committed individuals who serve some of the most victimized and vulnerable populations on earth. The film also highlights the work of the UN Stabilization Mission in Haiti, showing how UN Peacekeepers responded to the devastating earthquake in January 2010.
A panel discussion will follow the film screening with senior members of UN Peacekeeping and the director of the film, Academy Award winner Fisher Stevens.
Join the United Nations Association - Southern New York State Division, the UNA-USA Young Professionals of Southern New York, the UNA-USA's Council of Organizations, and the UN Department of Peacekeeping Operations and Field Support to learn about UN Peacekeeping and its important efforts.

Tanzania has committed to implement a number of measures to improve the health of women and children in-country, including to increase health sector spending from 12% to 15% of the national budget by 2015 and to double the annual enrollment in health training institutions. The government also aims to more than double the contraceptive prevalence rate, expand coverage of health facilities, and provide basic and comprehensive emergency obstetric and newborn care.
