Subject: [unac] All out Oct 5 - 7. End the wars abroad and at home
Sunday, October 7 is the 11th anniversary of the war on Afghanistan. UNAC has called for actions throughout the country around the weekend of October
5 – 7 to protest our continued war on Afghanistan and the threats of war directed at Iran and Syria (Please see the entire list of actions below--also available at www.October7Actions.net
We also want use this anniversary to protest the war at home. The U.S. has spent an estimated 4 trillion dollars on the wars abroad, which instead could have been used for education, healthcare, housing, and other human needs. The increased national security atmosphere caused by the wars has
meant ever increasing, racist attacks on Muslims, immigrants and communities of color.
Add your actions planned for October 5th - 7th to the list by emailing information to UNACpeace@gmail.com or going to
www.October7Actions.net
Or join an action in your area.

Olympia, WA, Oct 7
October 7th, is the 11th anniversary of the Afghanistan war: the unhappy
day when America used its collective pain from 9/11 to inflict suffering
and occupation upon the poor people of Afghanistan. Eleven years later,
ninety percent of Afghan people have never even heard of 9/11 and yet they
still suffer from the consequences. In the United States people have
neglected to pay attention to the continued and expanded campaign of war
and occupation.
This October 7th we would like to invite you to Localization Not Occupation,
a gathering that will help us connect the dots between the wars in the
Middle East and the increasing inequalities in America. Demanding
politicians and war profiteers end the war is not enough. Localization
builds community strength and demands we the people end the war directly.

During the yearly "Afghanistan Week" in protest against the on-going war
and Swedish participation in
the NATO-led Partnership for Peace involvement there, a series of meetings
will be held in Stockholm and
other cities. Many Swedes have been falsely led to believe by both major
political blocks that Swedish

participant in the conflict
on the side of the US. Tage G Petersson, the former Minister of Defence and
Speaker of the Swedish Parliament,
has travelled the country tirelessly the last 3 years to expose this and
other lies and has helped turn public
sentiment here against the war, even if a majority of MPs refuse to break
ranks with the US and just decide
to get out immediately.
Debates by a panel of women politicians and defense experts will be held in
Stockholm on the 3rd and 4th.
On Saturday the 6th Ramazan Bashardost, an Afghani independent
anti-corruption politician will speak about
"War, drugs and bribes - the gift of the Western countries to Afganistan".
On Saturday the 13th Osaman Abdul Basir, an activist from the Afghanistan

the situation for Afghani women. Local meetings and seminars will be held
with these guest speakers in other
cities, including Uppsala and Gothenburg, during the week. These meetings
are being arranged by Afghanistan Solidarity with the support and
endorsement of many other organisations.
