“Communicating Climate Change.” Yale Program on Climate Change
Communication.
Dear Friends,
Knowing your audience is key to
successful communication. This is especially important when communicating
climate change: a topic that elicits different responses from different people.
This means your communications strategies and messages should be tailored for
your audience. Our research identifies six unique audiences within the American
public who perceive and respond to climate change in their own distinct ways:
Global Warming’s Six Americas — the Alarmed, Concerned, Cautious, Disengaged,
Doubtful, and Dismissive.
In 2018, we created a simple
4-question survey tool, called “SASSY” — the Six Americas
Super Short Survey — that helps communicators quickly categorize any
individual or group of respondents. Since then, a growing number of campaigns,
educators, and researchers are using this tool to better understand their
audiences, screen participants for their research, and measure the
effectiveness of their communication campaigns.
Today,
we are excited to release the new Guidebook: Using the Six Americas Super Short Survey
(SASSY) in Campaigns and Education. . . .

“This is serious” by Katrina Riley - 350.org.

This is serious, Dick.
The planet just crossed its first climate tipping point. Coral
reefs are now in irreversible decline due to ocean warming and acidification
caused by climate change. Without rapid
climate action, experts warn that we’re on the brink of hitting other tipping
points too, including the devastation of the Amazon rainforest, the collapse of
vital ocean currents, and the loss of ice sheets.1. . . That’s why COP30 — the
world’s biggest climate talks — is an opportunity we can’t afford to miss,
Dick. In less than a month, decision-makers will meet in Belém,
Brazil, to shape the course of climate action for years to
come. 350.org and our partners are demanding COP30 deliver:
A rapid phaseout of fossil fuels, with no new oil, gas, or coal projects.
Reparations from wealthy countries to communities on the frontlines of climate
loss and damage.
Indigenous, traditional, and frontline leadership at COP. Donate
